| Our History First Baptist Church Damascus had humble beginnings in the early 1900s when a group of godly men and women in the town of Damascus had a desire to worship God and share His saving grace with the lost. The church was formally organized in 1904. Buildings have changed from a one room building to a wooden structure completed in 1906 to the brick building we worship in today completed in 1954. In 2008, the church purchased 36 acres of land just outside the town limits of Damascus for the purpose of constructing new church buildings. The number of people have increased and the amount of money given to missions has increased from the $3.65 given in 1912 by the Ladies' Aid Society to over $53,000 budgeted for 2008. But in spite of numerous changes over 104 years, the mission and purpose of First Baptist Church Damascus has remained the same---to worship and proclaim Jesus Christ. We invite you to be part of what God is doing through First Baptist Church Damascus in the 21st century. |
Our Beliefs We have adopted the Southern Baptist Convention's The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our church's doctrinal statement. To read this document, please go to this link. |
